Huge congrats to Jiu Jitsu World Champion Tyler Hurry!!

Tyler fought in and won gold in the 2010 Mundials de Jiu Jitsu held in Long Beach, Ca June 3-6th! This makes Tyler the first student from Gracie Daytona to become World Champion!! Make sure you congratulate him when you see him! Tyler showed great determination and executed what we learn everyday in the academy at the world stage. Tyler has only been training jiu jitsu since November of 2009!! There’s certainly a lot more titles awaiting him!

I also want to congratulate Gracie Daytona’s future champions Bryce and Tyler Crew! They both competed in their first tournament, the Orlando BJJ Open, on June 12th and BOTH won silver and bronze medals!! They both competed in the Beginner division and not the Novice division in spite of only been training for less than two months!! They both showed great composure and terrific technique.

Come celebrate Gracie Daytona’s Grand Opening of our oceanfront academy, AND two year anniversary on Sunday June 27th!!!

The celebration will start with a two hour seminar with Relson Gracie black belt, and WEC fighter Phil Cardella at 12:00pm-2:00pm ($60 for seminar), and be followed by a Gracie Jiu Jitsu demonstration for family and friends, then a Brazilian / Hawaiian style bbq with live music by Chuck Morel!!

Bring your family and friends; everyone is invited, and I hope to see everyone there to celebrate! It’s party time!!

Master Relson Gracie Seminar May 25th!!

Master Relson Gracie will be at Gracie Daytona on Tuesday May 25th at 6:00pm!

Relson is here to prepare myself and Tyler for the Mundials and was able to schedule a seminar on short notice. Please everyone try to come out and support the seminar.

The cost is only $60 for two hours. Relson will cover his tournament strategies and share with us what made him 22 years undefeated Brazilian National Champion!!!

I hope to everyone there!

Please note that all regularly scheduled classes for Tuesday will be canceled in lieu of Relson’s seminar.

Huge congrats to teammates that were promoted at the Relson seminar on March 2. Those that received belts and stripes deserve a pat on the back when you see them! Dorian Gonzalez earned a stripe on his orange belt! Jimmy Esguera earned a stripe on his blue belt! Jim Allison earned a stripe on his blue belt! Jason Pavlow earned a stripe on his blue belt! And now for those who’s hard work, loyalty, and persistance has earned them a new belt in Gracie jiu Jitsu, first Hunter Gardener earned his yellow belt! Nick Harshman earned his yellow belt! Paul Pedro earned his blue belt! and Dr Willem Van Deijk earned his blue belt!!

As everyone knows; with every promotion comes a higher level of responsibility, and greater expectations. These guys have worked very hard and I’m proud of each and every one of them!

For everyone else, (and there are a few of you very close to your next promotion), keep training and working towards your goals!

Gracie Daytona welcomes grappling superstar Penny Thomas to our academy for a two hour seminar on Sunday December 6, 2009 at 3:00pm!!
